How the Optimizer Uses Event Data
Event selection for Optimizer processing
Event searches are used for selection
You select the events you want to submit to the Optimizer for placement by creating and running an event search in 25Live that yields just those events. You have complete flexibility about which events you submit to the Optimizer for any particular Optimizer run. You could, for example, submit a term’s worth of classes or just a few—conference events for the next six months or just those for one upcoming conference.
See Preparing to Run the Optimizer for information about creating and saving event searches.
Events determine the organization input data for a run
The Optimizer looks at the primary organization of each event in your event search results for a particular run to determine which organizations, and their associated data, should be included in the run.
You control input data
An event search, in combination with a location search, gives you complete control of the data included in any Optimizer run. For example, you could submit an entire term of classes from all departments (specified by event search) for all general purpose classrooms (specified by location search), or you could submit just some classes from the Accounting department (event search) for general purpose classrooms on the second floor of the Business building (location search).
